Meet Cara Day
I began teaching my dolls and willing friends at the age of 4. By age 10, I was being paid $2 an hour to teach children how to read at my babysitter’s. In high school, I was pulled from class by the guidance counselors to speak to students in need of impromptu peer coaching–such as with one boy who was ditching classes and a girl who had an unplanned pregnancy.
I grew a private educational therapy and coaching practice. Through this, several curricula for parents, teachers, and therapists were developed. I now speak to audiences on topics relating to children and families through schools, hospitals, and literacy organizations. Schools and individual teachers hire me to help them bring best practices into their classrooms to raise achievement and help focused-motivation skyrocket. My primary life work at this time is providing family coaching services, coupled with training and supporting the Day Prep teachers in their work. In short, I’m up like toast every morning because I get to do what I love.
