My teaching career began in an unusual way. I started attending San Diego State University as a business major, hoping to become an accountant. My freshman year, a professor recommended I start looking into teaching because of my passion for math along with my skills in Spanish. After that I decided to switch my major; I then graduated with a bachelor of arts in math single subject in 2019.
Throughout college I worked in several jobs that involved leading and guiding children in education. I started at a tutoring center in La Mesa. Following that, I worked three years of various after school programs in San Diego and the Bay Area. Lastly, since graduating I began substitute teaching for both the county and school district in San Diego. I have worked with kids of all grades, from pre-schoolers up to seniors in high school. I was lucky enough to work in various classroom settings which allowed me to serve students of all backgrounds.
My passion for helping others learn began as far back as I could remember. I was born the son of a hardworking stay-at-home mother and English teacher father. My earliest memories are of my mother taking me to my dad’s school so I could watch him coach or teach. Growing up it always felt natural to help others in math or sports, it is a passion I decided to turn into a career and I am glad I did.
