Hello, my name is Jonathan Stephens. I am originally from Tucson, Arizona, and have been happy to call San Diego my home since 2016. I received my B.A. from the University of Arizona in Linguistics with a specialty in language preservation. Although I have worked in many different fields, teaching has always been my passion. 

I started my career in education teaching English as a second language, working with both adults and children. It was so rewarding to give the gift of language that ultimately changes lives. I then started working at Day Prep as a private instruction teacher and certified coach. I taught a wide range of students instructing everything from the fundamentals of reading to high level math. I later moved into a full-time teaching position at Day Prep and have truly found my home in the classroom teaching elementary school students. 

When I am not in the classroom I enjoy traveling, camping, swimming in the ocean, gardening and spending time with my friends and family.

I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Day Prep family, where I can share my love for lifelong learning with all our students!
