My interest in education began at a young age. In high school, I worked as a Nanny for several families. Through this role I regularly provided homework help to elementary school students of different ages. This was so rewarding, and I loved working one-on-one with the children and seeing a difficult concept “click”.
I studied Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. In school I worked as a Resident Assistant. In this role, I was a mandatory reporter, and I was often the first person from whom new college students sought help. I worked with students who had been victims of trauma and I observed first-hand the effect these traumatic events had on the students’ peer interactions and methods of coping. This experience piqued my interest in the interplay between education and mental health.
After completing my undergraduate degree, I began my graduate studies at the University of the Pacific Master’s program in Behavioral Psychology. Following the completion of my Master’s in Behavioral Psychology, I obtained a position as a Junior High School Science teacher, where I taught seventh and eighth grade Physical and Life Science courses.
This incredibly rewarding experience brought me Day Prep, where I can work with smaller groups of students and focus on the whole child. I adore being a part of the Day Prep team, and more than anything, I love working with our students to help them to learn and grow!
