Hi my name is Lauren and I am a passionate educator and learner with experience working with students both one-on-one and in classroom settings. I have always loved learning and with that have always been drawn to education. I received my bachelors of science degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and during my time there both tutored high school students in the area and was a research assistant for a marine lab on campus. Being in these environments I was constantly surrounded by students of all ages and learning of all types, from helping ninth graders understand algebraic expressions to exploring unanswered questions about coral health with graduate students in the lab. I cherished this world and process so much, and decided I wanted to be involved in it in some way. Personally I love working with children and have been babysitting or offering homework help since I was in middle school. All together this led to me taking a year and a half abroad in Thailand, post graduation, to explore teaching in a classroom setting where I was a science and mathematics teacher for 3rd and 4th grade students. In this time I was able to develop my teaching style and hone my ability to connect with students and create a supportive learning environment that fosters academic growth. My teaching style is friendly, involved and engaging, and I take pride in ensuring that every student can grasp the concept of each lesson.
