Summer School 2023

Day Prep School’s excellent summer program provides individualized academic instruction in reading, writing, and math at an approximate 1:6 ratio. Did you know there are 1,120 waking hours in the 10 weeks of summer? We recommend 60 – 80 hours of summer school for all students to avoid the ‘summer slide’ and introduce the upcoming math concepts, maintain and increase writing skills through our exceptional writing process, and build directed reading and thinking skills for the upcoming grade level. Your child will gain meaningful skills and a quiet confidence to set them up for increased progress and engagement in the coming school year.

We welcome you to Summer 2023!

Please note the following information:
  • Our Summer School program will be from 9 a.m. – 12 noon each day at Day Prep La Jolla, La Costa, Escondido, and Los Coches for children entering grades K – 12. Enjoy flexible arrival and pick-up times to fit your summer style.
  • Summer school will be from June 19 – August 25 (10 weeks)
  • We recommend at least 60 – 80 hours of summer school for a child to maintain school-year learning. We recommend 100 – 150 hours to remediate subjects that are more challenging for a child.
  • Please reply to this email with your approximate desired weekly schedule. Indicate any weeks you know you will be out of town.
  • While attendance is flexible, it is on a first-come first-served basis. If you want a set schedule, it is best to share your desired schedule now.
  • There is a $50 enrollment and materials fee.
  • Tuition is $20 per hour and is billed after services are rendered.
  • Sign up for all ten weeks from 9 a.m. – 12 noon and enjoy a reduced rate of $15 per hour. This represents a savings of $750 for a total summer tuition of $2,250 and is the best value even if you miss up to three weeks of summer school.
  • Our summer school program is designed to help your child maintain and develop skills in reading, writing, and math. There will be an emphasis on critical thinking and executive functioning skills.
  • Children should bring a water bottle and a snack each day.
  • While there is an academic focus, we have Take-Twos (quick, fun games) on a daily basis and simple art and science projects the children will complete on a weekly basis.
  • Private instruction in our locations or the comfort of your own home is also available all summer long. Remote instruction is available while you vacation.
  • Please share this page with friends whose children may benefit from summer school at Day Prep. We appreciate it.
