Many things have brought me joy in my life, but nothing compares to teaching others.
When I was in elementary school, my younger brother and I liked playing school at home. One of us was the teacher and the other was the student. Guess who was always the teacher!

As I grew up I enjoyed being involved in sports, dance and cheer teams. Through my experiences I learned what it meant to work toward a goal and be confident in myself. These lessons had such a profound effect on me, I wanted to share them with others. I became a Cheer and Hip Hop Coach for FitKids America where I could guide children to not only learn the dances and cheers, but to discover the same lessons I did.

My passion for teaching led me to take on the exciting role of the Lead Cooking Instructor at the Center for a Healthy Lifestyle at the Boys and Girls Club. I taught children the benefits of farm to table cooking and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices for four years. It was incredibly rewarding seeing the kids develop new skills and perspectives over the years.

While I was gaining knowledge from these amazing jobs, I was studying at Cal State San Marcos where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature and Culture. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain twice, where I developed both language and life skills. ¡Fue muy divertido!

These cumulative experiences brought me to where I am today. Working as a teacher for Day Prep allows me to use the strong foundation that I’ve built working with children and take it to a new level. There’s nothing like seeing a child finally grasp a concept they’ve struggled with or make it through an entire book on their own. I feel so lucky to be a part of such an amazing team and look forward to each opportunity I get to help a child grow and learn!
