Hola! I am Javier Cuevas and I am excited to join the Day Prep family to provide a quality education for students from all backgrounds. My family is from Michoacán México and I grew up in Riverside California where I was raised by my mom who has been a preschool and elementary teacher all of her life. She taught me how important a teacher’s role is in students’ development and inspired me to take on that responsibility.

I graduated from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Psychology. I was a high school math tutor at Kearny Mesa High School during my final year of college. I currently serve as a classroom teacher at Day Prep, as well as a private instruction teacher. Before joining Day Prep, I served in the San Diego Unified School District as a one-on-one aide with a child needing special support at a K-8 charter chool. I am also completing my master’s degree in math education and a classroom teaching credential.

When I am not in the classroom, tutoring, or studying, I am training for triathlons, learning how to salsa dance, visiting my mom, or solving an escape room.
