My career as an educator has proven to be more rewarding than I could ever imagine. My interests in teaching began at a young age, and progressed in high school, as I breezed through my Advanced Placement courses and graduated a year early. The English language would then become my new fixation, as I became engrossed in literature and composition. My aspirations were then solidified when I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to several countries around the globe. I was able to witness first hand the true, awe-inspiring impact that education had on the children. By excelling in their studies and learning English, these children would be given a chance at achieving a higher quality of life through a plethora of employment opportunities. A quality education being provided to a child at a young age is precious thing.
Upon returning back home, I then decided to dedicate my work and studies towards a career that would contribute towards making that difference. Shortly after, I completed my Bachelors in English, with concentrations in composition, literary studies, and education. After graduation, I also went on to study the fundamentals of teaching the English language in attaining both a TESOL and TEFL certification. My next goal was to go out and make a difference in the world, one student at a time.
Throughout my career I have worked with a wide range of students from different backgrounds and age groups. While I was teaching in Thailand, I worked with elementary school children in a trilingual classroom setting. The students were delightful and hungry for instruction and guidance. I also had the opportunity to work with students in Madagascar, teaching all grade levels from K1 through adult classes. The students were at varied still levels and some required specialized attention and one on one tutoring. I worked with the adult students for employment purposes, to assist them in obtaining jobs associated with ecotourism. I have also worked with young students online, teaching lessons which varied from the basic fundamentals of the language to full composition.
The students I have work with here in the United States have proven to be just as empowered by their education. Students dreaming big and working towards conquering their goals is something truly monumental. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to work with each student over the years, and to be a part of that magic which undeniably changes lives.
